rachel and pumpkins

well, we have been busy the last few days. we decided not to wait until halloween night to do our pumpkin carving, so here it is. i was feeding and caring for rachel, so dad got the job of carving and degooing the pumpkin with the older kids. i wasn't jealous, believe me. i think cleaning out the goo is yuck. i'm happy to have a loving husband that will do it for me!! caleb went ballistic for some reason saying how afraid he was, and screaming his head off when we told him we were carving the pumpkin. not sure what the deal was, but he got over it when i got out the blinking light to put in the jack o lantern. silly boy!!
rachel is starting to grab the spoon when i try to feed her in such a way that it gets everywhere. so i started giving her another one, that way when i put a bite in, she can hold onto that spoon, finish the bite, and i'm ready with another one to swap her with. it's great. and the kids can't get enough of rachel. she is such a sweet baby, and laughs and smiles so much. she is also rolling over from her back every time i lay her down. it's nuts! i try to change her diaper, and she's flipped. she is fast too! i tried twice to video it, but only go the tail end. sorry i sound so retarded!! enjoy!

my kitchen

ok, try to ignore the silly kids, and notice the icky orange walls behind them, and the peach one way back there. now see the icky doors, with the pretty white panel next to them. and the gray/tan color on the walls. i have been working on this kitchen for almost a week now. i just wanted it to stop looking to dirty and icky. the paint was scratched off in a line over the table where the old owners had their chairs rub against it a million times a day. and who would choose those horrid colors?? i get what they were trying to do, but it didn't work!! so now i get the joy of correcting their bad taste! much better, don't you think? with the white accents, i think it looks great. and then for our ward supersaturday, we did this temple picture. i think it turned out awesome! and i won these words at bunko on saturday night, which fit perfectly with the new decor. my sisters and i spent forever trying to make every straight and evenly spaced. what a pain! but now that it is done, it is so worth it! yay!!

school pictures

what is it with kids this age and goofy smiles? we are doing retakes of colby, that's just too funny looking!!

funny kiddos

caleb and i were shopping for rebekah's angel wings and halo, when i asked him what he wanted to be for halloween. we have several costumes from the past years, so i was rattling off different ideas to him. tigger? no mom, chicken little? no mom, bee? no way. ok what do you want to be? he points to a wall of pictured costumes. i told him to go over and show me which he wanted. he pointed to spiderman. i wasn't planning on buying a costume for him, since we have others, but it's worth it if he will wear the darn thing without fighting me on it! i helped him try it on before we bought it to see if it was the right size. and that was that. he didn't take it off the rest of the day. never mind that we were going to walmart. or meeting grandma. or eating lunch. he took it off for about 20 min, then the kids came home from school, and he had to show them. so back on it went. he would have slept in the dumb thing if i let him! after a few days the stigma has worn off, and he doesn't ask about it every day......just every other!
then, i'm not sure how this happened, but he thought it was hilarious and ran around with shorts on his head the entire evening. it was a crack up.

rachel has decided she is not full enough just nursing, so we started her on rice cereal about a week ago. she loves it. not like the other kids who spit it everywhere, she is always looking for the next bite. and she's so little, only weighs 13lb 5oz, with a very wet diaper on! but she is 25 in long now, tall and skinny!
and when she wears these pretty dresses, i can't help but take pics! how adorable!! :)

too many things

the kids in the new birthday outfits, we didn't have a working camera for colby's bday, but he had fun too! don't they all look so good? :)

and then i was doing laundry, but rachel was getting too heavy. she had been fussy, so i was carrying her all around, and i just plopped her in the laundry basket next to me. (don't worry, they are clean!) i thought she would freak, but she was happy as a clam, and started eating a sock! it was hilarious, she stayed in there for about 10 minutes, silly girl!

colby lost his two bottom front teeth last year about this time, and today lost his first top one. it had been wiggly and bothering him for a week or so, so he was more than ready for it to come out. he didn't like eating breakfast with blood in his mouth though!! (who would?!)

birthday fun

caleb reading to himself just before we opened one present for rebekah's bday. the tradition is to open one in the morning before school, but dad was going to be at work by then, so we let them do it the night before. here she is holding up her spoils. they were wrapped in a poptart box, so when she opened it and saw the box, she looked at me and said, thanks for the poptarts mom, like i was crazy. it was funny!!

at school, she got to wear her birthday crown, and felt very cool. here she is posing with it on, and getting ready to open some more. with colby helping of course!!

grandma and grandpa mcnelly came over to see her, and grandpa kept putting the stickers rebekah gave him, on rachel's head! it was too funny, cuz she didn't have a clue!

and here they are posing before they got ready for church on sunday. such silly kids!
